What do Adam and Amanda say to other farriers about EQUINET?

“It will make their life much simpler and you have so much more personal time. And that's a big thing, right? You can ask any farrier, any farriers partners, wives, kids, they've got personal time again now when they get home.”
For Adam Morris, horses were never just a job.

Growing up across the road from a farrier, he was drawn into the craft early — winding the forge, watching the rhythm of the work, learning by observing. Horses were already part of family life, so becoming a farrier felt like a natural progression rather than a decision.

Adam began his apprenticeship in 1990, working within Ingham Bloodstock racing stables before eventually settling in Tamworth. Over the years, he’s shod everything from racehorses to show ponies — and today, through Anvil Park Farrier Services in Wallabadah, NSW, he and his partner, Amanda service around 150 high-performance horses each month.

But for a long time, the business relied on something simple — and limiting.

A diary.
When Organisation Took a Back Seat
“Before, everything was just in a diary,” Adam says. “And organisation wasn’t really my strong point.”
Appointments were written down. That was about it.

There was no structured scheduling, no consolidated history, no clear routing. If clients couldn’t reach Adam, they called Amanda. Evenings were spent responding to messages, reshuffling bookings, and trying to piece together the week ahead.

“There was absolutely no process in place,” Amanda explains. “We’d be here, then there, and Adam would be driving from one side of town to the other just to get horses done.”

The work was getting done — but not efficiently. And not predictably.
Finding a Better Way
In 2021, after seeing EQUINET on Facebook, they decided to give it a try.
What started as a simple alternative to a paper diary quickly became something much bigger.

“It was just easier,” Adam says. “You could take photos of the horse’s feet, keep a history, and actually see what you’d done.”

Instead of relying on memory, they now had records. If a client questioned something, they could reference photos and notes. If a vet called to ask about previous work, the information was already there.

“You’ve got all the notes from the job in the app,” Adam says. “It’s there when you need it.”

From Scattered Appointments to Structured Runs
One of the biggest changes came with scheduling.

Today, Adam and Amanda are booked three to four months in advance. Instead of zigzagging across town, they plan structured runs by area.

“If we go to a certain area, we’ve got enough horses there for a full week,” Adam explains.

Appointments are pre-booked. Clients confirm in advance. Adjustments can be made quickly if needed. And because everything is visible inside the app, planning ahead has become part of the workflow — not an afterthought.

“In the evenings, we’re not running around messaging people anymore,” Amanda says. “You open the app and bookings are confirmed. If someone declines, you reschedule. It’s simple.”

The result?

More time at home. Less stress.
Handling Horses Without the Chaos
The real test came during the Nutrien Equine Classic in Tamworth — a 10-day event with around 2,000 horses.

In previous years, the event left them exhausted.

“We’d be mentally fried,” Adam says.

But this time was different.

They had the horses booked months in advance. They knew which horses were competing, which were being sold, and exactly when each one needed to be shod.

“We were actually finished a day early,” Adam says. “There were no dramas. It just flowed.”

Because they could see the full schedule, they also knew exactly what products were required — from Delta Challengers to St Croix Concordes — and brought the right stock without overbuying.

“It meant we were organised,” Amanda adds. “And he didn’t end up with a heap of stock he didn’t use.”
Better Records, Clearer Communication
Beyond scheduling, reporting has become central to their workflow.

Adam records product details, materials used, and notes for each horse. Photos and X-rays are stored alongside entries, creating a complete history at a glance.

“When the vet rings and asks what we did,” Adam says, “I can tell him straight away.”

Reports can be shared directly with clients, adding a level of transparency and professionalism that simply wasn’t possible with a paper diary.

“It’s all there in the palm of your hand,” Amanda says.

The Unexpected Benefit — Personal Time
The biggest shift hasn’t just been operational — it’s personal.

“In the past, you’d sit down for tea and the phone would start ringing,” Adam says.

Now, with appointments pre-booked and confirmed, the constant interruptions have largely disappeared.

“You’ve got more personal time,” he says. “That’s a big thing.”

Amanda laughs. “Our own horses are shod on time now. That never used to happen.”

The late-night shoeing sessions after dinner are mostly a thing of the past.
Their Advice to Other Farriers
“Get on it,” they say.

For Adam and Amanda, EQUINET didn’t just replace a diary. It brought structure, visibility, and control — and something just as important: space.

Space to plan.
Space to run their business with intention.
And space to be home without the phone constantly ringing.
