How Custom Access Works
Three steps to get the right people on your horse's record, with the right permissions.
1
Invite
Add someone to a horse by email or phone. They get their own EQUINET login and see the horse in their own list.
2
Choose What They See
Pick a role or set permissions by hand: profile, timeline, vet records, farrier records, media, appointments, invoices. Tick what applies, leave the rest.
3
Adjust Anytime
Change permissions as things change, or remove someone completely. The change applies instantly on every device.
Access Per Person, Per Horse
A shared record only works if people trust what is in it and who can see it. In EQUINET, access is not all or nothing. Every person on the care team is given access to specific horses, and for each horse you choose what they can see and what they can add.
Your farrier sees the hoof records and photos for the horses they shoe. Your vet sees the full health history. Your trainer sees the profile, the appointments and the movement videos. The barn manager sees what is coming up this week.
Roles That Fit the Job
You do not have to configure every permission from scratch. Choose a role, such as farrier, veterinarian, trainer or barn manager, and EQUINET suggests a sensible set of permissions for it. Then fine-tune anything you like.

Each role also controls what the person can add, not just see. A vet can add vet records and documents. A farrier can add farrier records and hoof photos. A trainer can add training notes and videos without touching the medical history.
Change or Remove Access Anytime
Horses change barns, trainers move on, you switch vets. When that happens, you tap once and the person no longer sees the horse. Nothing to export, nothing to explain, no record left behind on someone else's phone.
The same goes the other way: give a new farrier access the day they start, and they see the full shoeing history before the first visit.

Private Notes and Confidential Records
Professionals need a place for their own notes too. In EQUINET, a farrier or vet can keep private notes on a record that only they can see, alongside the notes shared with the owner.
Any record can also be marked confidential, so it is visible only to the person who created it and the horse's owner, even if other team members have access to the horse.

Custom Access is what makes one shared record safe for the whole team. See One App for the Whole Horse Care Team for the bigger picture.
